Portrait de Sandra

I really really like the work of Wendy MacNaughton. She doesn't post often enough to feed my addiction to her, but when she does I'm in heaven. If you've never seen her work, you should definitely check it out! That said, the drawing of the man with the pipe, and the drawing of the lady are both my attempts at her style. I haven't even come close. I'm new with color and not nearly as spontaneous with my line. I've also done many copies of her work, which I won't post because, well, it seems more like plagerism and I wouldn't want to offend her.

Both of these are done with Lamy Safari fountain pen, noodlers black ink, and watercolor on the second.

The portrait of Sandra was taken from a photo found on flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/spock27/1388070521/ Spock27 has some great photos!

  7. Sandra: That is a very good point! I've made the change you requested. That was a bit lazy of me to write "the woman" wasn't it!

And I certainly agree that you should be able to use the picture on your site, so please do so with my full blessing.

The sketch was done in fountain pen. I do use a computer sometimes, for touch ups, but not for this one. I just dabble--it's more of a hobby than anything else. Thank you for commenting.

  8. I love "Portrait de Sandra". I've just got to get a Lamy Safari fountain pen and Noodlers ink! I already went to two art stores with no luck. I will have to order on line. Another blogger I greatly admire does sketches using both, with magnificent results. You may be interested to look at her work. She is at http://ninajohansson.blogspot.com/

  9. Dan, thanks! I actually got my Lamy because of the work I saw Nina doing! I do love her work. I should have her on my links, since I have her bookmarked.
I ordered mine from JetPens, http://www.jetpens.com/index.php/cPath/214_452 for a very good price. Only $26 for the yellow body and very fine nib! JetPen orders are always the first ones I receive: they are fast!
