HEB parking lot

I'm really really embarrassed about this one. Well, the painting part...

Today we stopped by HEB, and while my husband went in for a few items, I stayed in the car to sketch. He is always very fast so it was a race against time. I only had time to sketch in the main part of the building, which I could only see bits of, the outlines of some trees, and two of the cars, one of which left before I finished. The sketch I liked. But, it was on regular printer paper and I tried to add watercolor. What a disaster! Oh well, I am glad to have made the experiment without worrying too much about the preciousness of a sketch! ...which is actually a huge step in itself, for me.

  1. I think it's amazing that you're able to sketch so many things in such short period of time. I am not sure what kind of disaster you're talking about because I think it's very well done :)
Thanks Raena for your previous comment on my drawing. I really appreciate that, and yeah my boss thought it's the bestest gift he's ever received, eventhough he only got it in digital format :D he's a cute boss

  3. Looks good to me - don't know what you are talking about. Oh, and I've been brooding about the conclusion you reached in the comments in the last post. With people, you don't have to look at the paper when you draw! You just have to look away from them when they look your way! :)

  4. HA - raena, i love the wash! i have some of my best luck with wash on crappy paper that won't take the water or sucks it all through. no matter what it's always an experiment - but i think yours was a great success!
thanks for the complements on my work, too - your comments are a great support.

  5. Boyohboy I agree with everyone here - put it away and look at it in a month because you will wonder why you'd been so hard on yourself! The entire building isn't needed for your composition at all - the suggestion is more interesting to me. Nice work - all of it.

  6. Here's what I have to say, "ditto, ditto, ditto". Methinks you're being just a tad harsh with yourself. I'm with Alex - I'm amazed that you got so much down in such a short time! nancy
