And these are random doodles from my sketchbook. It would appear that I watch a lot of television, which isn't really the case, except for maybe lately.
You might recognize Ron Paul above. The woman in the black dress was from a movie, but she didn't turn out looking like herself, not even the same nationality! The mannequin sketch was from memory. And I really don't remember who the other people are supposed to be!
A few sketches from The Mummy. I never hit pause for these, so they were done in bits and pieces, not getting a great likeness. The houses on the right were done from imagination. I was practicing a technique, so basically I was just looking for some kind of roof-scape. Even though it is more of a symbolic type drawing, I like the way it turned out.
These are sketched randomly from commercials, and I think we were watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Also, a visitor fell asleep on our couch! He should have known better!
Your sketchbook pages are a delight! And thanks for sharing your new sketching kit in that wonderful tin. What a find!
ReplyDeleteWhat a find! Strange about the flea market lady.
ReplyDeleteI really love the houses in your sketch book.
Awesome box! And those sketches are great! :) I think you're really on the roll now because you've been kept busy by your guests earlier, and you have contained all these energy to draw and viola! ^^ I really like the expressions you drew, and the parts which were colored look exquisite.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely page to read this morning! I did smile about the lady selling her tin. Seems like she still wanted it to be her tin even after she sold it! Great sketches from the TV - I find that so difficult that I generally give up in disgust. Must try harder.
ReplyDeleteVERY cool find, Raena! I know you'll enjoy it. I'm always on the lookout for usable treasures like this...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your
sketches...
So much in one post! Ok - (1)I have new wc's too. Bought 16 pans - haven't figured out how to fill my wc box yet, though, so not a one is opened. Strange how I am making the change so difficult. Want it to be right. (2) Ron Paul is perfect! (3) Can't believe you did the mannequin sketch so well from memory! (4) I like the roofscape too - I think it is the negative space. (5) Excellent practice sketching from tv & good results - great use of "down time" (6) Wake that guy up!
ReplyDeleteI love the tin - and the quirky lady who sold it to you should have realized it is going on to fulfill a higher destiny! Your TV sketches are amazing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back with so many nice things to show ! Excellent sketches: I don't know the people (much easier with your previous post of Harry Potter) but they look good anyway, and congratulations for drawing so quickly !
ReplyDeleteWow! Is my envy showing? I have recently become enamored with those vintage tins and deertising illustrations. I was, years ago and I'm back in love with them again. Your box is beautiful, outside and in. Funny how I want to put one together too, even though I don't go "out" to paint. Even if I did I have a great set that I got a while back that holds everything. I STILL want one like yours! It all looks so good. So do your drawings by the way! Great...all of them. I love the random assorted figures, the color in some and not others. It's all great!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the sketches. I think you wc tin is awesome. Great find.
ReplyDeletehi Raena !!
ReplyDeleteyou have such lovely blog here .
i love the way you exhibit your works !!!
Fantastic pages Raena - looks like you are all set with your new tin.
ReplyDeleteTerrific sketches and I love your little kit with all your supplies fitting right in there.
ReplyDeleteCool find! Like the tin and your pages are interesting. Great capture on the characters. I haven't tried sketching from tv yet. You make it look fun, must try!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun find! It's funny how people can get so attached to things. Perhaps she just wanted to make sure it was going to a good use, which of course it is!
