My Sketch(non)crawl 25

I had intended on going out on Saturday to have my own Sketchcrawl 25. I just didn't feel like the one hour drive to Houston, or the two hour drive to College Station to participate.

The weatherman had said we would have a wonderful day with cool temps and sunshine. My favorite weather! But, I woke up to rain, gray skies, and wind. So I wimped out, stayed home and sketched the cat. I suppose a more dedicated person would have braved the weather. I could have gone to a mall or something.

Anyway, Ollie was a great model for me and remained relatively still as he too moped around the house. These are small sketches scattered about two pages of my sketchbook. The originals are in pencil; color added in Corel Painter that evening. I did them over several hours of watching television. Putting down the sketchbook, picking it back up to sketch some more.

It seems like everyone is doing cats lately! Alex just made a post of a kitten that looked very similar to Ollie. Kate Johnson posted one of her cat going to the vet. Wendy has one up. Her cat has a GPS collar! And of course, Janey can always be relied on for cat sketches.

PS Hats off to those who compose their posts like this all the time! This was a booger!

PSS HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAN!

  4. Beautiful kittie!!!! Wow... I believe you're so right about a lot of people sharing the same theme this week, drawing catssss ^^
Tanna does draw a little, but she too needs a lot of practice, especially with speed or drawing a straight line ^^*tsk tsk tsk* I am trying to get her to draw of course, we'll see how that's going to work.
Oh I didn't know it's Dan's birthday.... if you're reading this Dan, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  10. These are magnificent! You show Ollie's emotions and and his character too.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! It took me about a half an hour to figure out how you knew my birthday! :) Then I found out you know my age too! (A momentary lapse). Well, we're still in the same decade, anyway! And way ahead of Alex - that I know! (He'll catch up, someday.) Thanks, too, Alex!

  13. KITTIES!!!! You are right! They are a favorite subject among EDMers because they are so much fun to draw! It certainly looks like you had fun with your drawings! And I love seeing the transition from the original sketch to the colored version! I love them!

And a belated thank you for your kind comments regarding the passing of my dog. It helps me to know that others like you understand what I'm experiencing...thank you again!

  16. Raena, I didn't get to do much for this Sketch Crawl, either, here in Aggieland. I am recovering from knee replacement surgery, so I just sketched my walker, my knee, and the tv and the walker, from the comfort of my recliner! Looking forward to the next one in February, though.
