The Dentist

Usually I'm not so thrilled to be going to the Dentist's office, but this time it wasn't for me and I knew I'd have lots of time to sketch! (I know, I shouldn't delight in the bad fortunes of others!) Anyway, I took my hand-book sketch journal and tried it out. I'm not sure I like the size I chose, but I do like the paper! (I'd get a larger size next time.) So, I did three sketches while I was there...one at the Starbucks, pre-appointment, one in the office, and one facing the office. I added color to the one facing the office. And later I doodled a little girl and painted her for my niece.

  1. Love the new sketches! I have an assortment of sizes but find I'm more apt to use the smaller (5x5) because it's so portable. i do like to spread my wings on occasion and go with a bigger format!

  2. These are great, Raena! I love the economy of line in the pencil sketches, and the way you colored the doctor's office. As for the little girl - it's a delight (and if I were your niece I'd frame it)! I suspect that this is really you as a little girl - look at that sketch and then look up at your self-portrait, the tilted head, the glance to the sky..and the pad and pencil really gives it away. Ah hah!
