Trying to Get My Groove Back...

Okay, well, the last of the company left yesterday and I'm left with no more excuses. I have no one to blame for my procrastinating all the way until bedtime, and telling myself that tomorrow, tomorrow I will get going again! So, today, I stuck a movie in my computer, hoping something would catch my eye and make me want to hit pause. I actually forgot to hit pause though and at the end of the movie, I had to rewind. The lighting in this movie is really dark! I guess I never really noticed that until I tried to find pictures of the characters with enough light as to be recognizable. I felt out-of-practice. Like I hadn't held a pencil since first grade.

  1. I'm really impressed. Without even enlarging the drawing, I knew exactly who the characters were.

  3. Raena, Raena, Raena! So glad you're back!! And with my favorite movie! Doesn't look like first grade art to me - wonderful sketches! And I love how you placed the character's faces outside Hagrid's cottage. To me, Ron and Hermione are the best - you really captured Ron's expression perfectly. And thanks for your comment at my blog - very nice to have you back.

  4. Wonderful sketches Raena, and welcome back! :) I will always remember one of my Norwegian colleague who kept joking about things he watched in movies.... "you know Alex, these transformers, G.I. Joes, Forrest Gump, Lord of the ring and alien movies, they are all Fake! But HARRY POTTER is REAL ^^"

  10. Very cool! And sketched from a movie. What a good idea! I'm going to have to try it! I'm not sure which I like better, the people or the architecture. Good job Raena, and welcome back.

  11. Thank you all! I started with the portraits, but then the background just called out for something. I do like the way the composition turned out.

Alex, I'm not sure what you're trying to imply...of course, he's real! ;)

And Dan, I do agree. Ron and Hermione were the first ones that I did. I think they came out the best. For Hagrid and Sirius, I had a difficult time finding well lit scenes. For Harry, well, I just didn't do him justice at all! Maybe instead of a paper bag, I'll just put him in his invisibility cloak!! lol
